Vardy goes cliche crazy in post-match interview

Much has been made of Jamie Vardy's remarkable ascent from non-league football to the Premier League, with the striker currently in only his second season in the top flight.

When it comes to the art of the cliched post-match interview, however, Vardy is already showing all the nous of a seasoned pro.

The England striker spoke to Sky Sports after scoring for the 11th consecutive game against Manchester United, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy's Premier League record.

And in the space of a few minutes in front of the camera he nearly provided a cliche for each one of those matches in which he has found the back of the net.

"I'm obviously delighted but the main thing was the performance. I felt like we put a decent shift in and in the end I think a point was a fair result.

"We’ve got a lot of pace in the team and counter attacking is one of our strengths. It’s unbelievable, I think I got a bit carried away with myself.

"I think if I let it get to me it’s going to affect my performance so I’ve just been keeping my head down and letting it sink in my head and trying to concentrate.

"It’s just another game where we wanted to try and get three points I knew it was going to be a battle. [Chris] Smalling’s been one of the best defenders in the league this season - for the neutrals I’m sure it was an entertaining battle.

"There will be a bit of disappointment at the way we conceded the goal bang on half time and like I say I think overall a point was a fair result.

"We’ll be taking each game as it comes, getting back to training and looking forward to Swansea away next week."
